IKONIH, a Japanese maker of hinoki wood toys, furniture and novelty products, and Nisshinbo Textile Inc., have collaborated to create a new product.
We have combined the mendesu (oshibori hand towel) distributed in the first-class green seats of the Shinkansen bullet train with essential oils extracted from Japanese hinoki wood to make ‘Hinoki Wet Towels.’
This product is created using upcycling, a concept whereby leftovers of materials necessary in production are fully utilized.
Upcycling is a ecologically beneficial method that ‘turns loss into treasure.’
A portion of the proceeds of each Hinoki Wet Towel go to support “the Environmental Project for the Future" which aims to help preserve and protect forest environments.
